Introduction: BCH 4024 surveys the structure, functional properties, synthesis, and degradation, of amino acids, proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, and nucleic acids.

Prerequisites: Organic Chemistry (CHM 2210 and 2211, CHM 2215 and 2216, or their equivalents at other institutions) or consent of the instructor. CHM 3217 is also acceptable. In certain cases, with the consent of the course coordinator, CHM 3211 or CHM 3216 may be taken concurrently. CHM 3200 does not serve as a prerequisite for BCH 4024.

Teaching assistants: Graduate-student teaching assistants will be available for your use, to help with questions and problems that you may have. We want to encourage everyone to visit our teaching assistants and our lecturers. We have learned that students who regularly seek help or clarifications are, on average, more successful in this course than those who do not seek help.
